Environmental Science Camp Description

This is a 4-day camp at St. Mary’s with a focus on understanding how scientists study and communicate their findings about the world we live in. The camp is offered to High School students, who will be registered as Freshmen – Seniors in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Students will learn how to document location using GPS and how to map environmental characteristics in GIS software. They will gain hands on experience in collecting data about water quality, ecology, resource management and environmental quality. As part of the camp, students will be taken to field sites like Woodlawn Lake, Mitchell Lake, Tecaboca and Bracken Bat Cave and Preserve, to take data and learn about the complex systems in nature.
