Low Brass Day

The annual St. Mary’s University Low Brass Day is dedicated to advancing high school students on trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, and tuba and preparing for the upcoming Texas All-State auditions.

Free and open to high school low brass students.


All-State Audition Etude Clinics

Gain valuable experience with each of the TMEA and ATSSB audition etudes. Receive feedback on your performance and improvement strategies for each etude. Also, gain knowledge of the music by hearing the St. Mary’s faculty performances of the repertoire.


Low Brass Ensemble Rehearsal and Performance

All participants will rehearse together in a mass ensemble conducted by Matthew Mireles, D.M.A, Director of Bands and Professor of Tuba and Euphonium, and perform for the finale concert. Develop sight-reading skills and make new friends by making music with students from other schools.


Group Warm-Up and Fundamentals Class

Receive the St. Mary’s Low Brass Warm-up and Fundamentals book and learn daily exercise and practice strategies to help you advance on your instrument.


Faculty Recital

Solo and chamber music performances by the St. Mary’s University Low Brass Faculty and current St. Mary’s students.
