Biography
Leia Lozano, is an Instructor of Biology and the Undergraduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (U-RISE) Program Assistant.
After earning her Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science-Toxicology, she worked in Forensic Toxicology in Houston, TX, for several years. She later returned to San Antonio to pursue a certification in Medical Laboratory Science at Texas Tech Health Science Center in Lubbock, TX. After completing her certification and becoming a board-certified Medical Laboratory Scientist, she worked as an adjunct professor at St. Mary’s and the Maximizing Access to Research (MARC) Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research (U*STAR) Program Assistant. Lozano actively volunteers as a Texas Master Naturalist and Texas Waters Specialist, contributing her time as a trail monitor at the Headwaters of the Incarnate Word and as a volunteer at the Witte Museum.
