Biography

Crystal Morris, Ph.D., NCC, LPC-S, CSC, earned her Bachelor of Science in chemistry with a minor in psychology from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, a Master of Education in counseling psychology from Texas A&M University-Central Texas and her PhD in counselor education and supervision from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has served as a visiting assistant professor at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas and as an adjunct faculty member at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, teaching courses on crisis and trauma, group counseling and counseling theories. With over 10 years of experience, she has worked as a school counselor, military family life counselor and private practice therapist. She is also the owner and clinical director of Butterflies Prospering Wellness Co.

In her private practice, she counsels couples, active-duty veterans, and adolescents dealing with PTSD, trauma, anxiety, and depression. She has authored “The Butterfly Affect: Living the Single Life Through God’s Eyes” and “21 Days of Positive Living,” with another book forthcoming. Her research focuses on mindfulness-based interventions and positive psychology as trauma-informed approaches to include military sexual trauma, holistic wellness, mental health in BIPOC communities, multicultural competence, social justice advocacy, ethics in counseling, and PTSD/trauma. She has received “The Professional Counselor 2023 Dissertation Excellence Award in Quantitative Research”, has presented at numerous conferences, published a book chapter on integrative practices for adolescents and children and published in peer-reviewed journals.

Research Interest

Her research focuses on mindfulness-based interventions and positive psychology as trauma-informed approaches to include military sexual trauma, holistic wellness, mental health in BIPOC communities, multicultural competence, social justice advocacy, ethics in counseling, and PTSD/trauma.
