Biography
CPT Marco “Monte” Montesdeoca is from Syracuse, New York. He commissioned as an Active Duty Officer in Army Aviation from Syracuse University in 2016, where he graduated with a Bachelor in Exercise Science. He attended flight school at the Army Aviation Training School in Fort Novosel, Alabama. Here he qualified on the UH-72 “Lakota” and selected the AH-64D “Apache” Attack Helicopter as his advanced airframe. As an AH-64D pilot CPT Monte has flown over 700 hours across eight countries, achieving status as a Pilot-in-Command and Air Mission Commander.
In 2017 he graduated from flight school as a 1LT, arriving to his first duty station Fort Wainwright, Alaska in 2018 under the 25th Infantry Division. While in 1-25th Attack Battalion he served as a Flight Company Platoon Leader in the Charlie Company “Vikings” and Airframe Repair Platoon Leader in the Delta Company “Wolverines”. In 1-25th Attack Battalion he completed one rotation to the Republic of South Korea in Task Force “Arctic Sabre” and Multiple Red Flag Joint training exercises with the US Air Force. He departed Fort Wainwright in 2021 to attend the Aviation Captains Career Course and Air Cavalry Leaders Course at FT Novosel.
In 2022 he served as the Bravo Troop “Silver Spurs” Commander in 3-6 Air Cavalry Squadron, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas. During his 18 months in command he led Bravo Troop throughout the European theater in the countries of Latvia, Greece and Romania during Operation Assure, Deter and Reinforce. His Troop was the sole Army Attack Aviation asset in Romania and UAS RQ-7B reconnaissance asset in Greece. Under his tenure he also led his troop through the first Division rotation to the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, four Aerial Gunneries, and Joint Tactical Air Controller operations.
