Four-Year National ROTC Scholarship

high school juniors and seniors


This scholarship is for current high school juniors/seniors planning on attending a four-year university. You could receive a full 4-year scholarship or a 3-year Advanced Designee scholarship to the college of your choice.

If you missed the deadline to apply for the national scholarship, all you have to do to start the program is sign up for MS 100 your first fall semester of college. You can compete for campus-based scholarships once you’re already in the program.

3-year and 4-year National Scholarship Requirements

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be between the ages of 17 and 26
  • Have a high school GPA of at least 2.50 (Junior-level Transcript)
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass Dept of Defense Medical Examination
  • Score a minimum of 1000 on the SAT (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores)
  • Meet physical standards (Army Physical Fitness Examination)
  • Good moral character, no civil convictions
  • Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army Reserve or Army National Guard)

Your Commitment

  • An eight-year service commitment with the Army.
  • Serve full-time in the Army for four years and four years with the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR).
  • Selected Cadets may choose to serve part-time in the Army Reserve or Army National Guard while pursuing a civilian career.

Campus-Based Scholarship

St. Mary’s University Current Students


Already a student at St. Mary’s? We currently award 3-year Advanced Designee, 3-year, 2.5-year, 2-year (basic camp graduate if required), 2-year Advanced Designee, 2-year, or 2-year graduate degree scholarships for master’s students. Start off by signing up for one of our basic classes like MS 100, then come speak to our enrollment officer to get the ball rolling on applying for a scholarship.

We have specific scholarships reserved for the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), nursing and DOD critical language majors.

Minuteman Scholarship

Army Reserve


If you are interested in receiving an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship and commissioning into the Army Reserve, the Minuteman Scholarship provides you an excellent opportunity. All qualified applicants for ROTC scholarships may apply for consideration for the 4-year Minuteman Scholarship.

Each Army Reserve major subordinate command can award four Minuteman Scholarships per year. Minuteman Scholarships cover four years of full tuition and fees or $10,000 for room and board at colleges and universities served by an Army ROTC program.

Eligibility

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Between ages of 17-31
  • Valid MEPS physical
  • Currently in the Army Reserve or eligible for enlistment
  • Ability to pass ACFT
  • Meet AR 600-9 standards
  • Pass MSC commander Interview
  • Professor of Military Science validation
  • Acceptance letter to college
  • Proof of academic major
  • Proof of ACT or SAT scores
  • Enroll in ROTC

Active-Duty Scholarship Opportunities

The Army Green to Gold Program is designed to offer active duty enlisted soldiers the opportunity to earn a commission as Army Officers. The Green to Gold Scholarship Program consists of 4-year, 3-year and 2-year scholarships. Applications are received at the national level, but you must be accepted to St. Mary’s first.

FAQ


Army ROTC offers two-, three-, and four-year scholarships, which pay for either full tuition and fees or room and board; the student elects which they want. This includes a separate allowance for books and a monthly stipend of up to $5,000 a year. Army ROTC scholarships are not retroactive.

What kinds of scholarships are available in Army ROTC? Are any retroactive?

Scholarship winners must serve for four years; non-scholarship Cadets who enroll in the ROTC Advanced Course must serve for three years. All cadets who successfully complete their degree path and successfully complete the ROTC program will be commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
