Biography
J. Colin McQuillan, Ph.D., received his B.A. in history and philosophy from Loyola University Chicago in 2002 and an M.A. in philosophy from Boston College in 2004. Before receiving his Ph.D. in philosophy from Emory University in 2010, he was a visiting scholar at the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg in 2006-2007.
Professor McQuillan has taught at St. Mary’s since 2012. His research concerns the history of modern European philosophy, especially the history of aesthetics and the critical philosophy of Immanuel Kant. He is the author or editor of five books as well as numerous articles and reviews. In 2018-2019, Professor McQuillan was a visiting scholar at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation
