Amarillo, Texas – The St. Mary’s University men’s golf team sits 19 strokes off the lead after shooting 589 through two rounds of the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite, hosted by West Texas A&M University.

The Rattlers posted a 289 in Monday’s second round, 11 shots better than their opening-round score of 300, for a two-round total of 589.

Matt Vela (Sr., San Antonio) carded a 73 and 70 (143 total), good enough for a tie for ninth place. Jeff Rein (Sr., San Antonio) is one shot back, leaving him in 16th place individually.

Rein is the reigning Heartland Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week.
