San Antonio – St. Mary’s University Men’s Soccer Coach Que Willis announced on Thursday the signing of Michael Tookes to a national letter of intent to join the Rattlers, starting with the 2010-2011 academic year.

Tookes (6’1″, Midfielder, Fort Worth, Texas) joins the Rattlers after playing for coach Tracy Duren at Trinity High School. He was named Newcomer of the Year during the 2008 season. Off the field, he earned Honor Roll recognition.

Tookes is the third signee for the Rattlers this offseason. Previously, St. Mary’s signed San Antonio natives Joshua Stevens and Nick Garza to national letters of intent. St. Mary’s finished the 2009 season fourth in the Heartland Conference standings. Adam Villanueva (Sr., DeSoto, Texas) was one of five Rattlers to earn All-Heartland Conference honors. Stephen Gamez (Fr., San Antonio) was named Freshman of the Year, Kyle Farrell (Sr., Edmond, Okla.) and Villanueva were named first team All-Heartland Conference, while Brett Collier (Sr., Schertz, Texas) and Joseph Diaz (Jr., San Antonio) earned second team recognition.
