The national and subsequent global financial crises brought to light the need for greater transparency and more ethical business practices. St. Mary’s Greehey School of Business attracts national business leaders to campus for students to interact with and learn first-hand about current issues facing the business world.
In fulfillment of the Catholic and Marianist mission of St. Mary’s University, all students within the Greehey School of Business required to take an Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility course (Schuyler’s lecture was part of the course). We are working to prepare tomorrow’s business leaders by making them better and more ethical leaders today.
As part of the course, Shannon Schuyler, Corporate Responsibility Leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), recently spoke to students. Schuyler discussed the firm’s commitment and strategy for sustainability and supporting the environment. Schuyler also outlined for students PwC’s community relations and outreach efforts. Schuyler has worked for PwC for 13 years and is one of the nation’s leaders in corporate social responsibility. She has spoken before the UN General Assembly and recently shared the stage with Michelle Obama to speak about civic engagement.
