Joe Allen scored 18 to lead the St. Mary’s men’s basketball team to the Heartland Conference Tournament Championship in a 59-52 win over Rockhurst in the Bill Greehey Arena.
The win gives St. Mary’s the Heartland Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II national tournament. The NCAA playoffs kicks off March 12 with the regional tournaments.
Manny hernandez and J.J. Edwards each scored 11 points, while Billy White added 9 for the Snakes. The three men were playing in their final game in the Bill Greehey Arena. The game also marked the last home game for Head Coach Buddy Meyer, who is retiring after 27 seasons at the helm.
