Both the St. Mary’s baseball and softball teams ran out impressive wins over Angelo State on Tuesday.
The St. Mary’s softball team’s bats came alive to beat rival Angelo State 8-0 and 9-1 in a double header at home on Tuesday.
Junior Tiffani craft went 4-5 over the two games with 2 RBIs, while senior Roni Garcia went 5-6 with 5 RBIs and a home run in the two games. Jamie Bertsch went 3-5 with an RBI, a home run and 4 runs scored, and Kirstin Simmons hit a home run.
Brittany Brown picked up the shutout win in the first game, and Malissa Magee got the win in the second game.
The wins improved the Rattlers’ record to 14-3 on the year.
Accross the street at V.J. Keefe Memorial Stadium, the Rattler baseball team used every trick to win, including a towering home run from designated hitter Jarrett Williams. The Rattlers beat the Rams 9-5.
Bobby Freeman went 3 for 4, Jared Natho went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs, and Williams and Cody Pyle each knocked in two runs.
David Ramirez got the win for the Rattlers. he pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits, 4 runs and chalking up 8 strikeouts.
The Rattler baseball team improves its record to 3-2.
