Matula, Van Horn Named Heartland Players Of The Week

Rattler volleyball players Courtney Matula and Lindsey Van Horn earned Heartland Conference Player Of The Week Honors for the week of Sept. 9-16, as announced by the Heartland Conference today.
Van Horn, a junior from New Braunfels, was named hitter of the week and Matula, a freshman from San Antonio, was named setter of the week.
They helped lead the Lady Rattlers to two victories on the week, the fourth and fifth in a row for the team. The two match wins tied the Lady Rattlers (8-3) with the Rockhurts University Lady Hawks for the conference lead.
On the week, Van Horn hit .367 with 29 kills, for an impressive 4.14 kills per game. Against Abilene Christian, she hit .462 with 14 kills and only 2 errors on 26 attacks in a three-game sweep.
Matula averaged 13.29 assists per game with 1.57 digs. Against Angelo State, she recorded 60 assists to go along with two kills.
