The St. Mary’s softball team took over the number-one spot in the latest NCAA Division II South Central Regional Poll, which was released today. The Rattlers had fallen from No. 1 to No. 2 in last week’s poll, but winning the school’s fifth-straight conference title seems to have been the elixor needed to put the Rattlers back in the No. 1 spot.

The top team in the region hosts the regional championship tournament May 12-15. The top six teams in the region make it to the tournament. Official word on host site and tournament teams will not come until Sunday.
