The Summer Communications Institute at St. Mary’s University awarded more
than $40,000 worth of scholarships to would-be journalists and graphic
designers.
The three-day workshop culminated July 11 with an awards ceremony during
which the scholarships to St. Mary’s were announced. The institute involved
high school and middle school students from all over Texas, and focused on
newspapers, yearbooks, photography and graphic design.
Scholarship winners are:

Laura Garcia, San Antonio Southwest High School – $4,000
Jeniece Hernandez, San Antonio Southwest High School – $4,500
Lindsey Villarreal, San Antonio Southwest High School – $5,000
