San Antonio – St. Mary’s University volleyball players Samantha Weber and Valerie Teter were named Heartland Conference Hitter and Libero of the Week, respectively for the week of August 20-26, it was announced by the conference office recently.

Weber (Sr., Fort Lupton, Colo.) reached double figures in all four matches for the Rattlers at the St. Mary’s University/Texas MedClinic Invitational. She hit .270 for the week, posting an average of 4.27 kills per game as the Rattlers went 2-2. She had a high of 20 kills against Indiana University-Pennsylvania. Her serving was also strong as she had at least two aces in each match and led the team with 11 for the tournament. She totaled 15 blocks, including seven against Cameron University. For her play she was named to the all-tournament team.

Teter (Jr., San Antonio) had a strong start to the season at the tournament, leading the team in digs. She averaged 4.67 digs per game and reached double figures in all four matches. She had a high of 21 digs against the University of Arkansas-Monticello and nearly topped the 20-dig mark against both Cameron University and Indiana University-Pennsylvania with 18 digs in each match. Her passing was also excellent for the week as she had a 97 percent passing rating.

St. Mary’s has a 2-5 record heading into play this week. They will host Texas A&M University-Kingsville on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena. After that match they will hit the road to play in the Cameron University Best Western Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Lawton, Okla.
