The Ceremony
Academic Dress
All delegates participating in the academic procession are responsible for bringing their own academic dress. Arrangements should be made by whoever designated you as a delegate from your institution. Please do not have robes shipped to St. Mary’s University.
Check-In, Robing, Lineup and Formation of the Academic Procession
Delegates can check in at the AA&CC entrance from Lot J beginning at 9 a.m. A President’s Ambassador (PA) will be available to direct you to the Movement Studio, where robing will take place.
Coatracks will be provided so that you can hang up your academic dress until you are ready to robe. In addition to delegates from other institutions, St. Mary’s University Board of Trustees and Leadership may also robe in this area.
We ask that all delegates be robed and seated in the lineup no later than 10:10 a.m. The academic procession will begin at 10:25 a.m. so that the Inauguration can begin promptly at 10:30 a.m.
You are welcome to leave personal items (e.g., jackets, bags, etc.) in the robing area, as they will be secured at all times by St. Mary’s University Police.
PAs will guide you to the delegate lineup area. Delegates will line up in order of the institution’s founding date. For your convenience, a marker will be set out for you, labeled with your name, your institution’s name, and the year of its founding.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the procession will return to the robing area.
Community Reception
Following the Inauguration, delegates are invited to join all other guests at a community reception to celebrate President Winston Erevelles. The reception will take place in the Auxiliary Gym, where you will have lined up for the procession.
Accessibility
The AA&CC is wheelchair accessible. Please email inauguration@stmarytx.edu if you have other mobility or accessibility concerns not addressed by these measures.
