About the Chair for the History of Hispanic Texas and the Southwest
The O’Connor Chair in History of Hispanic Texas and the Southwest is to develop a more sustained focus on the history of Hispanic Texas and the Southwest and enhance the University’s visibility and authority in this area of study through research and programs. All historical discoveries, community presentations and scholarship will be the activities of a St. Mary’s University historian. Currently, a lecture is held every fall and spring semester, often incorporating the history of Catholicism and the Catholic Church in Texas and the Southwest.
