Biography
Marie Southern is a adjunct instructor at St. Mary’s University. It is her first opportunity to share her costume expertise by teaching Intro to Costume Construction and Design and through designing for our theatre productions. Southern is a Texas native, but recent to San Antonio after moving here in 2017. Southern attended Amarillo Community College in her hometown where she graduated with an A.A. in Applied Science of Theatre Arts. Upon moving to San Antonio, Southern graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a focus on Costuming from the University of the Incarnate Word in Decembe 2019. After graduating and navigating the recent pandemic, she started working in the Costume Shop at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, where she was recently appointed the Costume Shop’s assistant supervisor and is still busy making costumes there year around as well as contributing to the Drama Department.
