Groundbreaking Innovation in San Antonio

In Fall 2022, St. Mary’s University broke ground on the Blank Sheppard Innovation Center, supporting research, innovation and instruction in the School of Science, Engineering and Technology. The 30,000-square-foot facility will feature laboratories including Robotics and Smart Manufacturing, Data Science and Machine Learning, Engineering Design and classrooms.

In keeping with our mission to support the students, families and economy of District 20 and the City of San Antonio, the Innovation Center will support Advanced Manufacturing research and instruction while promoting outreach with industry and community partners engaged in numerous engineering, computing and related scientific disciplines.

The Center will also house labs and classrooms dedicated to the new Nursing Program, which St. Mary’s University plans to launch in Fall 2024. The School of Science, Engineering and Technology plans to offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing to help close the critical gap in our health care system.

The Innovation Center project is funded, in part, by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023.
