The Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering at St. Mary’s University prepares students for rewarding careers in the field of electrical and computer engineering.

Graduates acquire a strong background in theoretical and applied principles of diverse areas such as machine learning, data sciences, parallel processing, communication systems, control systems, digital signal processing, computer networking and computer security.

Program of Study

The 30-credit-hour Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering allows students to choose between a thesis, project or all-class option.

The program gives students a flexible curriculum that integrates new developments in computer and electrical engineering, small class sizes and the chance to be involved in faculty research projects. The program may be completed in 18 to 24 months and classes are conveniently offered on campus during the evening.

Electrical Engineering students work in lab.
  • Combined Degree Program

Students can pursue a combined five-year program to complete a Bachelor’s and Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Combined degree programs allow undergraduate students to begin graduate studies in their junior year and pay the undergraduate tuition rate, a substantial savings. They also shorten the time it takes to earn two degrees.

  • Degree Plans

The master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering is a 30-credit-hour program. Students may elect a thesis, project or all-class option.

The thesis option consists of 24 credit hours of course work and 6 credit hours of thesis direction. Non-thesis students must complete 27 credit hours of course work and 3 credit hours of a master capstone project.
