KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M-Kingsville dealt the No. 7 St. Mary’s baseball team a setback Tuesday, winning 10-1 at Nolan Ryan Field.
The Rattlers (19-5) briefly led 1-0 in the first inning but never fully recovered from the Javelinas’ (10-3) three-run response in the bottom of the frame in the non-conference tilt.
Derek Moczygemba (Jr., Bulverde, Texas) was dealt the loss on the day he learned he was the Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week following a fantastic performance in a victory over Incarnate Word last week.
Tyler Migl (Sr., San Antonio) scored the Rattlers’ lone run on a throwing error following a passed ball. Josh McElroy (Sr., Helotes, Texas) led the Rattlers at the plate with a 2-for-4 outing, while Ivan Sigala (Jr., El Paso, Texas) and Scott Slusher (Jr., Grapevine, Texas) accounted for the team’s other hits.
Kingsville outhit St. Mary’s 8-4 on the day.
The Rattlers will return to the field Thursday when they host Fisher College at UTSA Roadrunner Field.
