Vela Named Conference's Men's Golfer of the Week

San Antonio – Picking up the honor for the second time this season, St. Mary’s University men’s golfer Matt Vela was named the Heartland Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday.

Vela, a senior from MacArthur High School in San Antonio, finished three strokes off the lead in placing fourth at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite on Tuesday.

Vela shot 73-70-68 for 211 to help the Rattlers finish third as a team.
