San Antonio – St. Mary’s University head baseball coach Charlie Migl announced on Thursday the signing of San Antonio native Grant Harrelson to a National Letter of Intent to join the Rattlers, starting with the 2007-08 academic year.

Harrelson, a 6’0″ outfielder/pitcher, was a four-year letterwinner for coach Chans Chapman at Reagan High School in San Antonio. He was named first team all-district, first team All-San Antonio 5A Baseball and San Antonio Express-News Player of the Week. He set a Reagan High School single-season record for homeruns.

He helped RHS to the regional quarterfinals as a sophomore, a regional semifinalists berth as a junior and a district championship and area finalist spot this season. Off the field he was an academic all-district honoree and graduated Cum Laude from RHS. He is a St. Mary’s Presidential Scholarship recipient.

Harrelson is the eighth signee for the Rattlers this spring. The Rattlers finished the 2007 regular season with a 38-16 overall record and a 30-10 mark in Heartland Conference play. St. Mary’s finished the regular season second in the Heartland Conference, just one game behind St. Edward’s, who had a 31-9 HC mark.
