San Antonio – St. Mary’s University women’s golf coach Wes Skidmore announced on Wednesday the signing of Ali Bertoia and Ursula Perez to national letters of intent to join the Rattlers, starting with the 2007-08 academic year.

Bertoia, a 5’1″ native of Universal City, comes to St. Mary’s after a strong career at Judson High School playing for coach Scott Calkins. She was a four-year letter winner for JHS, helping the school to a pair of district championships.

Perez, a 5’6″ native of San Antonio, attended Burbank High School, earning four letters for coach John Garcia. During her four-year career she won six tournaments and finished second 10 times. As a senior she won three tournaments, including the district tournament. She finished third at the regional tournament after shooting a two-round total of 143. Her stroke average as a senior was 77.3 and she was named All-City by the San Antonio Express-News. She finished no lower than second in the district tournament her four years at the school, winning the tournament twice. She finished in the top 12 at the regional tournament all four years at the school.

The St. Mary’s women’s golf team finished second at the 2006-07 Heartland Conference Tournament. Jessica Harbin and Amanda Anderson were each named All-Heartland Conference, while Harbin was the Heartland Conference Player of the Year. Harbin was a first team All-West Region pick and earned second team All-American honors after finishing 18th at the NCAA Championships as an individual.
