San Antonio – St. Mary’s University men’s basketball player Jarvis Lee was named Heartland Conference men’s basketball player of the week for his play last week against Missouri Western State University and Fort Hays State University, it was announced by the league office on Thursday.
Lee (Sr., Houston) averaged 13.5 points and 3.0 rebounds for the week. He scored 14 points against Missouri Western State on 4-of-9 shooting from the field in just 27 minutes. He followed that up with 13 points against Fort Hays State the day after that. Against Fort Hays he pulled down a season best five rebounds.
He has now scored in double figures five times this season. He is averaging a team-best 9.6 points per game for the season.
Lee is the third Rattler to earn Heartland Conference men’s basketball player of the week honors this season and the third in as many weeks. Last week Latez Williams (Jr., Hamilton, Ohio) received the honor, while two weeks ago Marcus Hill (Jr., Longview) was picked as the player of the week.
Lee and the Rattlers (4-6 overall) will return to action on Friday when they face 9th-ranked Tarleton State University at 7:30 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena. The game will be the second in a men’s/women’s doubleheader. The Rattler women’s basketball team will take on Southwestern College (Kansas) at 5:30 p.m.
