Joe Allen scored 19 to lead the St. Mary’s Rattlers past the Panhandle State Aggies 69-61 Wednesday at St. Mary’s in the opening round of the Heartland Conference Tournament.
The Rattlers (22-6) will play Rockhurst in the Heartland Conference Tournament Championship game on Saturday at home.
Steve Goff scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Manny Hernandez scored 13, while J.j. Edwards scored 11.
The Rattlers shot only 34 percent from the field (19 of 55), and took an amazing 27 shots from three-point range – but only hit 6 of those for a 22-percent stat.
Panhandle State (9-18) was led by Nick Malinowski, who had 18 points.
