Sophomore Flavia Azinheira, starting at center against the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Javelinas on Friday, scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds in her breakout performance in the Lady Rattlers’ 76-69 road loss.

St. Mary’s (0-4) lost the contest, but it may have just found another scoring option in the Mozambique native. Azinheira’s previous season high was 14 points in the Lady Rattlers’ home debut against Lubbock Christian University.

The Rattlers also enjoyed double-digit scoring efforts from junior post Charlena Rodez (15 points) and junior guard Dawn Killian (16 points).
