“Speak Up. Speak Out” is Texas’ first statewide public awareness campaign against sexual assault.
Sexual assault is the most undereported crime in the U.S., according to the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs.
Ruiz shared her story of victimization, survival and recovery in attempt to reinforce the campaign’s goal to inform the public about sexual assault crisis services and to encourage dialogue across Texas.
The event began 7 p.m. at the University Center, conference room A.
