At the St. Mary’s University Invitational, held Oct. 27-29 at the Woodlake Country Club in San Antonio, the St. Mary’s Women’s golf team won its fourth of five tournaments of the fall season and the Junior Varsity men’s squad from Southern Methodist University held off a mix of D-I, D-II, and D-III teams to win the men’s title.

St. Mary’s swept the top three spots in the women’s individual competition. Senior Jillian Wyne took her fourth medal in five tournaments with a seven-over 151. Freshman Kate Meyer, the only one to defeat Jillian Wyne this fall, came in second at 153. Sophomore Nicole Wyne finished third at 160.

As of the Oct. 30 Golfstat Cup Standings Senior Jillian Wyne has the best scoring average in D-II and is ranked 63rd across all divisions (D-I, D-II, D-III and NAIA) with an adjusted average 3.828 strokes behind the national leader, Katherine Hull of D-I Pepperdine.

Trinity junior Brian Sparks won the men’s title with an even-par 216. SMU frosh Will Dodson and UTSA senior Jerry Carnahan tied for second at 218.
